ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) — An Aurora man has been convicted of fatally shooting another man inside a suburban Chicago social club, moments after the two had been drinking together at the club's bar.

Kane County prosecutors say a jury on Monday found 50-year-old Alfredo Soto guilty of first-degree murder for the 2016 death of 31-year-old Martiniano Alvarez of North Aurora.

Authorities say the two men were with another man at the club when Soto got up and walked toward the door, then asked Alvarez to come with him. He then pulled out a gun and shot Alvarez four times. The shooting was captured on surveillance video.

Soto's attorneys argued at trial the killing was self-defense. Prosecutor William Engerman says it was a "cold-blooded and violent act."

Soto faces a 45-year to life prison term.
