BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) _ Jacque Nero scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half as Alabama- Birmingham upset No. 20 Auburn 57-56 Wednesday night.
The Lady Blazers (11-3) rallied from a 50-38 deficit with 9:09 left in the second half, taking their only lead of the half on a layup by Kanekia Curry to lead 57-56 with 1:15 remaining in the game.
Auburn (9-6) had its chances, but Suzette Sargeant missed a one-and-one attempt with 13 seconds remaining. Auburn rebounded but missed three shots inside the lane in the next six seconds and Nero snared the rebound to seal the victory.
Curry scored a career-high 14 points and added a game-high 12 rebounds. Nero had seven rebounds. UAB's Valecia Buckner scored nine points, hitting three 3-point shots during the Lady Blazers' 19-6 run.
C.C. Hayden led Auburn with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sargeant and Kendall Mago added 10 points each.
UAB outrebounded the taller Lady Tigers 37-27, including a 25-12 edge in the first half.
