CoorsTek to Help With Scanners
Mar. 15, 2002
GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) _ CoorsTek Inc. has signed a letter of intent to help InVision Technologies Inc. produce machines that detect explosives in baggage checked at airports.
Demand for InVision's CTX scanners has grown significantly since the federal government mandated that all baggage be screened before boarding an airplane.
CoorsTek and InVision said Thursday they will negotiate an agreement for CoorsTek to help manufacture and assemble InVision's CTX 5500DS and CTX 2500 models.
The scanners would be manufactured in two facilities near InVision headquarters in Newark, Calif., InVision officials said.
Last week InVision said the Transportation Security Administration had placed a $169.8 million order for 100 machines and parts for 300 others.
