BRANTFORD, Ont. (AP) _ Michal Pivonka scored on the power play and David Volek added a short- handed goal to give Czechoslovakia a 2-0 victory over Finland at the World Junior Hockey Championships Thursday night.

The Czech's win left both teams with 3-3 records at the tournament.

Pivonka broke a scoreless game at 15:56 of the second period with a 20-foot shot during a Czechoslovak power play.

Volek sealed the win with his short-handed goal at 8:21 of the final period when he took a long pass at center ice from Stanislav Medrik and broke in to beat Finnish goaltender Timo Lehkonen.

Czechoslovak goalie Jaroslav Landsman blocked 28 shots for the shutout while Lehkonen turned aside 30 shots.

Both goalkeepers were named their team's player of the game.

Referee Nico Toemen of Holland called only four penalties, two minors to each team.
