STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) _ Doug Hartsfield scored six points in the final 1:54 of overtime Sunday as Mississippi State rallied to beat Mississippi 84-80 in the Southeastern Conference.

Hartsfield, who scored 16 points, made four free throws and a 15-foot jumper in overtime as Mississippi State (9-2, 2-0) won its eighth consecutive game at Mississippi. The Bulldogs won 104-102 in four overtimes last season.

Cameron Burns, held six points below his season average with 14, made two free throws with no time remaining to tie the game at 72. The Bulldogs got the chance when Burns was fouled by Patrick Eddie on an attempted layup at the buzzer.

Mississippi (6-5, 0-2) had taken a 72-70 lead with 12 seconds remaining on a 15-footer by Joe Harvell, who scored 26 points.

Freshman Stephen Davis' 18-footer gave the Rebels an 80-78 lead with 2:37 left in overtime before the Bulldogs took over.

Greg Carter scored 21 points for Mississippi State, which never led by more than two points until Hartsfield's jumper with 27 seconds left in overtime.

Harvell, who scored 26 points for Mississippi, had dizzy spells throughout the game due to a stomach flu.
