CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — A baby found unresponsive in a bathtub in South Carolina has died more than a week later.

News outlets report 1-year-old Logan Wade Sumeral was hospitalized Aug. 14 and removed from life support Aug. 22. Sheriff Don Reynolds says Logan is believed to have entered the bathroom and climbed into the bathtub while his mother and stepfather were in another room. A sibling found him.

The sheriff says responding deputies and investigators found the home "to be in a state of disarray and infested with bugs." Kimberly and Joshua Collins were charged with unlawful conduct toward children due to the home's condition. It's unclear whether they have lawyers.

Logan's death is still under investigation, but Reynolds says they don't expect additional charges in the case since the drowning appeared accidental.
