PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Aramis Ramirez partially dislocated his left shoulder Monday night and will likely miss the rest of the season.

Ramirez was injured diving for Ellis Burks' double down the line in the first inning against San Francisco. Ramirez was clutching his left hand as he left the field, but an examination revealed the shoulder injury.

Ramirez will be out 4-6 weeks, a period that would extend past the end of the season. If he doesn't return, the Pirates will likely encourage him to play winter ball.

One of the few solid hitters on a slumping team, Ramirez was hitting .323 over his last 28 games, going 31-of-96 with four homers and 20 RBIs. For the season, he is hitting .256 with six homers and 35 RBIs.

The Pirates called up infielder Abraham Nunez from Triple-A Nashville to take Ramirez's spot on the roster.

Enrique Wilson, who has played second base, shortstop and third since being traded by the Indians, becomes the everyday third baseman with Ramirez out.
