TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) — Police say a Massachusetts high school student has been arrested for threatening to kill school resource officers, then return with an AR-15 assault rifle and shoot up the school.

Authorities say the 18-year-old Taunton High School student has not attended school since the first day of the school year after having made threats and racially-charged statements.

The student came to school carrying a backpack around 10:45 a.m. Monday, and police say two resource officers approached him. The officers began to escort the student to the school security office, at which point police say he threatened to disarm them, kill them and return with the rifle.

The officers handcuffed the student. No weapons were found on him.

The student is facing multiple charges, and he has been ordered held without bail.
