Baltimore mayor's spokeswoman moves to unspecified role

BALTIMORE (AP) — The second person to serve as Baltimore Mayor Catherine E. Pugh's mouthpiece has departed the post.
The Baltimore Sun reports the mayor's chief spokeswoman, Amanda Smith, announced Friday that she has accepted an unspecified role with the Mayor's Office of Small, Minority and Women Owned Business Development. She took the role when Anthony McCarthy left in November to found a church and run the NAACP's Baltimore chapter.
The city has not had a director of communications since McCarthy's departure.
Pugh has said McCarthy's exit allowed her to review her communications operation.
Last week, the city's spending board approved six new communications jobs in her office. The new mayoral spokesman is Deputy Press Secretary James E. Bentley II.
