Clarification: Delay Story
Oct. 07, 2005
WASHINGTON (AP) _ In a Sept. 29 story, The Associated Press referred to an editorial in the Austin American-Statesman that questioned why prosecutor Ronnie Earle's investigation into election spending in the 2002 state legislative campaigns had resulted in indictments of organizations but not individuals.
The story included an assertion by House GOP leader Tom DeLay that the Sept. 11 editorial was critical of Earle because DeLay had not been indicted. The story should have pointed out that the editorial did not mention DeLay by name.
