AROUND THE STATE:
ROSLYN, S.D. — If it's 3 in the morning and they can't sleep, it must be time for some rug-weaving. At least that's the mindset of one Roslyn couple. Married for 39 years, Ardella and Jay Galvin, both 75, spend as much time as they can creating woven rugs in their shop, which is spread across three buildings and multiple trailers. Every year the Galvins travel to about 12 shows where they both sell their products and show off their loom. Although they used to travel all over, now they're sticking to nearby shows in South Dakota, North Dakota and Iowa. By Emma Gallagher, Aberdeen American News. UPCOMING: 610 words.
WATER RIGHT FIGHT
EAGAN, Minn. — Though the Minnesota Vikings are in their prime as a championship contender, they still considered it necessary to make room for some up-and-coming prospects by leaving two accomplished and trusted veteran defensive players off the regular season roster with the release of defensive end Brian Robison and the retirement of cornerback-turned-assistant coach Terence Newman. HOUSTON — Minnesota's Kirk Gibson goes against Houston's Dallas Keuchel in the final game of the series, one day after the Astros rolled to an 18-4 victory over the Twins. UPCOMING: 700 words, photos. Game starts at 1:10 p.m. CDT.
