HINTON, Okla. — An Oklahoma town is considering taking over operations of a nearby state park in hopes of avoiding the park's closure. 250 words.

— NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA-FIRE — Authorities are investigating a fire that gutted a northeast Oklahoma shoe store that's run by a 103-year-old woman.

— LESSER PRAIRIE CHICKEN-SURVEY — A grouse that has been the focus of an ongoing legal battle over whether it warrants federal protection has seen its numbers increase by nearly 30 percent over the past year according to aerial surveys for the lesser-prairie chicken in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

— LAKE EUFAULA DROWNING — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an unidentified drowning victim has been recovered from Lake Eufaula.
