Shark stickers in Cape Cod town questioned
Mar. 07, 2013
TRURO, Mass. (AP) — The town of Truro's new resident beach parking sticker that bears a drawing of a grinning shark isn't sitting well with some, especially in light of a shark attack off the Cape Cod community's coast last summer.
The 3-inch square sticker won unanimous approval of the beach commission.
But Kelly Clark, director of the town's recreation and beach department, worries that it gives the impression the town isn't taking sharks seriously.
The Cape Cod Times (http://bit.ly/W7O8uU ) reports that when Clark expressed her opinion about the stickers at a Feb. 26 selectmen's meeting, two board members also said they were worried about possible public impressions of the sticker.
Selectman Gary Palmer said the $15 sticker may remind people that sharks could be present in the area's waters.
