BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) _ Ball Corp. (BLL) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $119 million.

The Broomfield, Colorado-based company said it had net income of 34 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 58 cents per share.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 58 cents per share.

The metal packaging company posted revenue of $3.1 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.02 billion.

Ball shares have climbed nearly 4 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 5 percent. The stock has decreased slightly more than 6 percent in the last 12 months.
