Mark Johnson Agrees to ChiSox Deal

CHICAGO (AP) _ Catcher Mark Johnson and the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a $500,000, one-year contract.
Johnson, 27, broke in with the White Sox at the end of the 1998 season. Last year he batted .209 in 86 games with four homers and 18 RBIs. He will compete with Miguel Olivio and Josh Paul for the starting job next spring.
Under the terms of the deal, agreed to Tuesday, Johnson can earn an additional $25,000 each for 60, 80, 100 and 120 games played.
He can earn additional award bonuses.
