MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) — A 15-year-old high school student is accused of altering and reposting a threat that had been circulating on social media sites.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey tells news outlets the girl was arrested Friday morning.
Investigators say the original threat came from a Snapchat post made by someone in South Carolina that shows a person holding a gun along with the words "Round two of Florida."
The girl is accused of altering the image to name Space Coast Junior/Senior High School in Cocoa, Florida. The image, which said "I'm coming space coast, watch out," was posted to Instagram.
The girl, who is charged with written threats to kill or do bodily harm, told investigators she thought it was "funny."
Officials said a South Carolina student was arrested Thursday after the original threat.
