ST. LOUIS (AP) — A Farmington woman has pleaded guilty to running an illegal high stakes sports betting operation.
Federal investigators say 60-year-old Carol Jean Hazer pleaded guilty Wednesday.
According to her plea agreement, Hazer organized and ran the betting operation, partly by using internet websites. She also admitted to money laundering and unlawful monetary transactions, including buying a house and vehicle with proceeds from the operation. The business made nearly $500,000 in revenue during its operation.
Hazer also pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns to conceal the income from the illegal business.
She will be sentenced Jan. 17.
