TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A man died and a woman was injured when their boat hit a piling in the water near Tampa.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in an email that the man and the woman were thrown into the water when their 15-foot Gheenoe crashed late Sunday afternoon. The collision happened off Davis Islands in Tampa.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the man died. The email says the woman was in serious condition when she was taken to the hospital. Their names haven't been released.

The wildlife agency is investigating the crash.
