Ocean City ride inspected after Ohio fair malfunction
Jul. 27, 2017
OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — An Ocean City amusement park ride made by the same manufacturer as one that malfunctioned in Ohio, killing one person, has been inspected as a precaution and will continue operating.
Theresa Blaner is a spokeswoman for the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. She tells the Baltimore Sun the Freakout at Trimper's Rides is the only one in the state similar to the Fireball in Ohio. One person was killed and seven others were injured when the Fireball broke apart Wednesday at the Ohio State Fair.
Brooks Trimper, operations manager for the park, says there hasn't been any trouble with the Freakout. But he says the park asked state inspectors to take a look just in case.
Trimper says they found no problems and the ride opened at its regularly scheduled time Thursday afternoon.
