Mussina MRI: No Significant Damage
Aug. 24, 1999
KANSAS CITY (AP) _ An MRI on pitcher Mike Mussina's right shoulder showed no significant damage, according to Baltimore Orioles officials
Mussina is doubtful for his scheduled start on Friday against the Detroit Tigers.
General manager Frank Wren said the pain and swelling in the shoulder has to go down first.
``It's just a matter of when the swelling goes down, so he can begin throwing again,'' Wren said Monday.
Mussina was struck on his right shoulder by a line drive in the third inning in Sunday's 9-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Arthur Rhodes saw a hand specialist Monday. Wren said Rhodes' injury is a sprain of the last knuckle of his left index finger. Rhodes had to leave Sunday's game after being struck by a batted ball.
