LUCKNOW, India (AP) _ A boat carrying villagers capsized in river in northern India on Thursday, killing all 21 people on board, police said.
Twenty bodies had been recovered after the accident in Rudauli, about 360 miles southeast of New Delhi, the Indian capital, local official Bharat Pandey said by telephone. The overcrowded boat capsized in the Ghaghra River's strong current.
``We are searching for one more body, which may have gone a little further because of the strong current,'' Pandey said.
The state's Interior Ministry ordered an inquiry into the accident. Boat accidents are common in rural India where poor villagers cram rickety vessels to travel across rivers.
