ATLANTA (AP) _ Jason Terry scored 31 points and Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 25 as the Atlanta Hawks beat Denver 105-102 Wednesday night for their 12th straight home win over the Nuggets.
The Nuggets, losing their sixth straight on the road, haven't won in Atlanta since Dec. 10, 1988. Denver was led by 20 points from Tim Hardaway and 16 from Antonio McDyess.
After trailing 79-59 with 4:54 left in the third quarter, the Nuggets went on a 39-16 run that began with a 13-0 stretch. George McCloud hit a 3-pointer from the right wing that gave Denver its biggest lead, 98-95 with 2:18 remaining.
Abdur-Rahim followed with a running six-footer on the baseline to make it 98-97. After Juwan Howard fouled out on the offensive end, Terry drove the lane and scooped in a shot that gave Atlanta the lead for good.
Terry hit 11 of his last 12 shots after going 0-for-2 in the first quarter. He was 5-for-7 on 3s and 4-for-5 from the foul line. Terry, who scored 32 in the Hawks' win over Golden State on Monday, also had eight assists and three steals.
Hardaway had four 3s during the Nuggets' 39-16 stretch, but he missed one badly from the top of the key after Abdur-Rahim hit a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go.
After rebounding Calbert Cheaney's putback attempt, Terry sealed it by making a pair of free throws with six seconds left.
Atlanta has won four of five at home. DerMarr Johnson had a team-high nine rebounds and 15 points for the Hawks.
Howard had a game-high 11 rebounds.
Notes: The Nuggets dropped to 7-37 overall and 2-22 on the road when trailing at halftime. ... Denver is now 0-16 on the road when allowing the opponent to score 100 points. ... Atlanta is now 23-4 at home against the Nuggets.
