NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ A small plane crashed Saturday on a busy neighborhood street, killing the pilot and passenger, officials said.

Fire Chief Buck Dozier said it was miraculous that no one on the ground was killed when the private plane crashed at around 11 a.m.

``This is a heavily populated area and an historic area of Nashville. It came down between two houses and just burst into flames,'' Dozier said.

Names of the victims and other details were not immediately available.
