PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Western Massachusetts is the place to be for beer lovers this weekend.

The first Western Mass Beer Week kicks off Saturday to celebrate the dozens of craft beer breweries that have cropped up in the state's four westernmost counties.

Seventeen beer makers and more than a dozen pubs and restaurants are involved.

Event spokeswoman Melissa Breor tells The Berkshire Eagle the main goal is to call attention to the region as a beer destination.

The weeklong series of events includes tastings, new beer releases, lessons on cooking with beer, beer-related movies, music and even yoga held in a brewery. One major event is Saturday's Berkshire Craft Beer Festival in Pittsfield.
