EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ Jason Kreis scored in the 19th minute Wednesday night and the Dallas Burn held off the New York-New Jersey MetroStars 1-0 for their second straight win.

Dallas (6-2) stopped the MetroStars' three-game winning streak.

Dante Washington set up the goal by getting position on the right side of the penalty area on rookie defender Mike Petke. Washington then took a throw-in from Damian, turned on Petke, drawing MetroStars goalkeeper Tony Meola off his line. Washington then slipped a left-footed pass across the goal-mouth which Kreis knocked home.

The MetroStars (3-4) didn't have a shot in the first half and were stymied in the second by goalkeeper Mark Dodd, picked Tuesday as an alternate for the U.S. World Cup. Dodd, making his season debut after sitting out the first six games of the year with a broken ring finger on his right hand, made five second-half saves.

His most dramatic stop came in the 68th minute when he dove to his right and fully extended himself to flick away a header by Giovanni Savarese following Tab Ramos' corner kick.
