GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago man is recovering from his injuries a month after a taxi crashed through the wall of his home and pinned him to his bed.
Shawn Grisch of Glendale Heights suffered broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder and a cut on his spleen when the taxi slammed through a brick wall at about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 1.
The driver fled and remains at large. Police found an open bottle of alcohol in the cab.
The 53-year-old Grisch tells the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1AfB60H ) that he's continuing physical therapy and hoping to be cleared to return to work next week.
During the clean-up of his home, Grisch found the taxi's license plate. He calls it "quite a memento" and says he plans to hang it in his garage.
