DENVER (AP) _ A school bus collided with a car and flipped over on its side Thursday, slightly injuring 30 high school students.

Police said about 50 students were riding the bus home from Cherry Creek High School when the bus swerved to avoid a car that ran a stop sign, then hit the car, sheared off some trees and rolled.

Some students said the driver was going too fast and seemed distracted just before the accident.

``The driver was speeding. She was going very fast,'' said 16-year-old Regina Komarovskiy.

When the bus overturned, ``everybody was just yelling,'' said passenger Nancy Vargas. ``They opened the back door and everybody just started getting out. They didn't even help each other. They were just desperate to get out.''

Most of the injured and the bus driver were treated at hospitals for cuts and bruises and released.

One student was being held for observation. The driver of the car, Anita Quintanilla, 28, was in good condition at University Hospital in Denver.

No charges were filed immediately.
