GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli fire has killed at least 41 Palestinians during mass protests along the Gaza border, marking the deadliest day of violence since a devastating 2014 cross-border war and casting a pall over Israel's festive inauguration of the new U.S. Embassy in contested Jerusalem. In a show of anger fueled by the embassy move, protesters set tires on fire, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the air, and hurled firebombs and stones toward Israeli troops across the border.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri calls the U.S. decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem a "provocative" act that closes the doors for any attempts to reach peace between the Israel and Palestinians. Hariri in a series of tweets Monday said he is "deeply regretful" of the decision that is igniting the anger of millions of Arabs, Muslims and Christians around the world, and fueling violence.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's top aides are in Jerusalem celebrating the opening of the new U.S. Embassy there. Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, along with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, were leading the U.S. delegation. The relocation of the embassy from Tel Aviv has infuriated Palestinians, who seek east Jerusalem as a future capital.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says too many jobs in China are at stake for the U.S. not to help telecommunications giant ZTE "get back into business." Last month the Commerce Department blocked China-based ZTE from importing American components for seven years. The U.S. accused ZTE of misleading American regulators on its trade with North Korea and Iran. The company is a major supplier of telecom networks and smartphones. Trump's decision comes as the U.S and China move forward on trade negotiations.

SURABAYA, Indonesia (AP) — An Indonesian family brought its 8-year-old daughter to a suicide bomb attack it launched on the police headquarters in the country's second-largest city, a day after another family conducted suicide bombings on three city churches that killed 12 people. Police said the girl survived being thrown by the blast Monday. The bombings raised concerns that Indonesian militant networks have been reinvigorated by the return of Indonesians who fought with the Islamic State group in Syria.
