35 Die in Siberian Mine Explosion

MOSCOW (AP) _ At least 35 miners were killed and dozens were missing after a methane gas explosion Tuesday in a coal mine in southern Siberia, officials said.
A huge explosion ripped through the Zyryanovskaya Mine in the city of Novokuznetsk, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Moscow.
Officials said 67 people were in the mine on the overnight shift when it was ripped by the explosion. At least 35 people had been killed and the other 32 were still missing, according to ministry spokesman Viktor Beltsov. Special rescue teams were heading for the region to help search for survivors.
