RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) — Police in Rhode Island say a 43-year-old man was injured when he crashed into a utility pole.

WJAR-TV reports Jeffrey Fortin was injured Sunday morning in Richmond when his van went off road and struck a utility pole.

The Hope Valley Fire Department was called to the scene to extricate Fortin from the van. He was taken to an area hospital with injuries that aren't life-threatening.

Police say alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash.

Utility crews were rerouted lines to restore power in the area.
