Man Charged in In-Flight Attack
Jun. 13, 1998
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ A passenger on a flight from the Bahamas to Fort Lauderdale has been charged with assault, accused of attacking a flight attendant and biting another passenger.
David Kreyer, 28, of Warwick R.I., was arrested by sheriff's deputies and U.S. marshals after Friday morning's flight. He was also charged with interfering with a flight.
``He ... wouldn't listen to flight attendants and became belligerent,'' said Anne Figueiras, an FBI spokeswoman.
Officials said they don't know what triggered Kreyer's alleged outburst on the Laker Airways flight. They said he attacked flight attendant Kristy Lynn Scott after she asked if he was wearing a seat belt.
He jumped up, grabbed her arms, pushed her and attempted to grab her by the throat, authorities said. Scott's cheek was fractured and needed stitches, which were provided at the airport.
After the attack, another Laker employee and three passengers restrained Kreyer by strapping him into a seat.
