PITTSBURGH (AP) _ The Pittsburgh Pirates signed minor-league free agent pitcher Pep Harris and third baseman Jarrod Patterson on Monday and assigned them to Triple-A Nashville.

Harris, a right-hander, was 10-5 with a 3.70 ERA in 121 appearances with the Anaheim Angels from 1996-98. He missed last season following reconstructive right elbow surgery.

The 27-year-old Harris was 3-1 with a 4.35 ERA in 49 games for Anaheim in 1998.

Patterson, 26, split last season with Triple-A Tucson and Double-A El Paso in Arizona's farm system, hitting .358 with 19 homers and 98 RBIs in 142 games. He has 69 homers in 600 career minor league games.
