Mich. Man Shoots, Kills Co-Worker
Mar. 16, 2001
ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) _ A parts inspector shot his boss to death at a machine shop Friday, then clocked out and fled, authorities said.
Orlando Pedro Amezcua, 32, had clocked in that morning at Metro Machine Works but soon left, saying he needed to get something, Lt. David Early said. The five-year employee returned just before lunch, and an argument broke out.
``We spoke to several people _ workers and managers _ none of them were aware of any problems that existed,'' Early said.
The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was shot in the head, chest, and arm.
Amezcua clocked out and left the plant, authorities said. He called his wife from a cellular phone, told her what had happened and said he was going to kill himself at a park in suburban Detroit, Early said.
Police hunted for Amezcua.
