DALLAS (AP) _ Harut Karapetyan scored three goals within five minutes and the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Dallas Burn 8-1 at the Cotton Bowl on Thursday night.

The Galaxy set a team record for goals in a game and handed Dallas its worst defeat. The Galaxy also set a Major League Soccer record for largest margin.

Karapetyan scored the fastest three goals by one player in league history. The second-half substitute found the back of the net in the 82nd, 85th and 87th minutes.

Ezra Hendrickson scored twice for the Galaxy.

Damian scored the lone goal for Dallas in the 44th minute, becoming the first player in league history to send a corner kick directly into the net. The score cut the Galaxy's lead to 2-1.

Mauricio Clenfuegos assisted on all three of the Galaxy's first-half goals, and MLS scoring leader Welton added a goal and two assists.
