Self-described pastor sentenced for child rape
Nov. 21, 2014
BOSTON (AP) — A self-described pastor from Boston has been sentenced to up to 12 years in prison for raping a child under 14 years old he met through her parents.
Epiphane Lazarre was sentenced this week following his conviction earlier this month on charges of aggravated rape of a child under 14, and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Prosecutors say the 41-year-old Lazarre manipulated the family to isolate the girl from her parents. He represented himself as a pastor to the family, but he did not appear to be affiliated with any church.
Prosecutors say during the last two months of 2012, Lazarre repeatedly assaulted the girl in the Dorchester rooming house where he lived, and refused to let her speak with her family.
