LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Ben Ammerman scored a career-high 22 points, including five three-pointers, and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Loyola Marymount to an 83-69 West Coast Conference victory over Gonzaga on Friday night.
The win brings Loyola's overall record to 14-6, 4-3 in league. The 14 victories are the most in coach John Olive's four-year tenure at Loyola.
Loyola's Mike O'Quinn added 14 points and went 10-for-10 from the free throw line, while Jim Williamson added 13 points and seven assists. Ime Oduok also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Lions.
Paul Rogers scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Gonzaga (13-6, 4-3). Kyle Dixon added 15 points and eight assists while reserve Kevin Williams scored 14 points, including four three-pointers.
The Lions had just a 34-32 advantage at halftime, but they took the lead for good on a lay-up by Kenny Hotopp to give Loyola a 63-62 lead with 5:18 remaining in the game.
Ammerman followed that up with a three-pointer, and Williamson scored four straight points to give the Lions an eight-point cushion with less than four minutes to play.
