SYDNEY, Australia (AP) _ A United Airlines Boeing 747 flying from Los Angeles to Sydney developed engine problems and made an emergency landing in Fiji today, a newspaper said. No injuries were reported.

The Sydney Morning Herald, in its early Friday edition, did not specify the engine problems, give the flight number of the plane, or say how many passengers were aboard. The plane was scheduled to arrive in Sydney at 5 a.m.

The newspaper said the passengers were later flown to Sydney by Air New Zealand and Air Pacific.

The report quoted an unidentified United spokeswoman in Sydney as saying the Boeing 747 later flew back to the United States after the crew rested.
