ST. LOUIS (AP) — Cole Hamels is expected to join the Cubs this weekend in St. Louis. The Texas Rangers traded the veteran left-hander to Chicago yesterday for pitchers Eddie Butler and Rollie Lacy and a player to be named. The Cardinals host the Cubs this afternoon in the second game of a three-game series. Lefty Jose Quintana starts for Chicago against right-hander Miles Mikolas (MY'-koh-lahs).
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Redskins first-round pick Daron Payne is expected to miss two to three weeks because of an ankle injury. Coach Jay Gruden says the defensive lineman out of Alabama was stepped on during practice yesterday and will be in a walking boot for about a week. Payne, the 13th overall pick, is a strong candidate to be the starting nose tackle.

LONDON (AP) — Australian sailor Wendy Tuck has become the first woman to skipper the winning vessel in the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race. The 52-year-old from Sydney led the Sanya Serenity Coast team to victory in the race that finished in Liverpool, England today. The race encompasses 40,000 nautical miles. Competitors sail on identical 70-foot ocean racing yachts around the world.
