Mar. 02, 2001
NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock prices have opened lower. The Dow Jones industrial average is down 75 points in today's early going. Losing issues on the New York Stock Exchange hold a 7-to-5 lead over gainers.
The Nasdaq composite index is off 82 points and the S&P index is down 14 points.
Stocks are falling under the weight of losses overseas and profit warnings at home.
Markets have turned lower in European trading after more big losses today in Asia.
Tokyo's main market index fell three-point-three percent to a new 15-year low.
And there are new profit warnings for Wall Street to work through, from the likes of Oracle and SBC Communications.
