NEW YORK (AP) _ Corporate earnings reports helped lift the stock market to record levels today.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 117.41 at 9,213.62 by early this afternoon. Its record close was 9,211.84, reached May 13.

Earnings reports that met or exceeded expectations lifted the shares of Dow components J.P. Morgan, General Motors and Johnson & Johnson.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index, which on Monday pushed this year's gain above 25 percent with a fourth-straight closing record, was rising further today, as were other broad-market indicators.

In addition to the earnings reports, agreements with international lenders to prop up Russia's economy, hopes that Japan's new government will work to prevent Asia's financial crisis from deepening and a U.S. government report on dormant inflation at the consumer level all helped improve the investment outlook.
