TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Reserve center Jay Spurlock scored the first 19 points of his college career and Tulsa's bench players outscored their counterparts 43-18 Monday night in a 93-56 victory over winless Morgan State.

Rod Thompson and backup forward John Cornwell added 15 points each for the Hurricane (6-2), which hit five 3-point shots in the first six minutes to take a 15-9 lead and never trailed.

Michael Ruffin contributed 12 points and nine rebounds and Eric Coley had 11 points and eight rebounds for Tulsa, which outrebounded the Bears 46-30.

Morgan State (0-7), which has also faced Georgetown, Arizona and Texas Christian this season, was led by Rasheed Sparks with 13 points. Tremain Byrd had 11 and Lorenzo Hutchinson 10.

The Bears got within 21-15 with 9:10 left in the first half, but three baskets by the 6-foot-10 Spurlock and a 3-pointer by Shawn Williams keyed a 12-0 run. Tulsa built the lead to 38-21 by halftime.

Morgan State drew within 38-24 following a 3-pointer by Jerard Rucker, but Ruffin started a 10-3 run with a layup and capped it with a dunk. Tulsa went on to lead by as many as 33.

Tulsa shot 52 percent while limiting Morgan State to 37 percent.
