DENVER (AP) _ Ezra Hendrickson and Carlos Ruiz scored a minute apart in the second half as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Colorado Rapids for the first time this season, 3-1 Saturday night.

Danny Califf added a goal and Cobi Jones assisted on all three. The Galaxy (8-7-2) lost two of their last three games against Colorado and the first two this season.

Chris Henderson scored for Colorado (8-9-1).

Hendrickson split two defenders and sent a shot off goalkeeper Scott Garlick's left hand and just below the cross bar in the 70th minute to break a 1-all tie.

One minute later, Ruiz took a pass from Mauricio Cienfuegos and beat Garlick with a header for his 13th goal of the year.

Henderson gave Colorado a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute, converting a crossing pass from Chris Carrieri into a goal that went just inside the left post. Califf matched the score for the Galaxy in the 35th minute with a header past Garlick.
