Russian Dies in Karate Competition

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) _ A Russian competitor in an international karate tournament died four after a kick to the head caused a brain hemorrhage, doctors said Friday.
Said Isayev, 20, was kicked Saturday during a quarterfinal fight. Doctors at the Kiev First Aid Hospital, where he underwent surgery, said he never regained consciousness and died Wednesday
Isayev was wearing a helmet, but the blow was to his jaw, Dr. Ihor Konivets said.
The competition, a youth contact karate world championship, was organized by the Ukrainian Federation of Martial Arts.
