OSLO, Norway (AP) _ About 75 British soccer fans were arrested early today after they went on a rampage in an Oslo pub, destroying furniture and fixtures, police said.
Thor Thomsen of the Oslo police said many would not be released in time for the World Championship qualification game between Norway and England later in the day.
''I hope we have set an example. Many of those detained are seen as hooligans and will not have the chance to cause any more trouble,'' he said.
Police said those arrested were being processed and that charges were being determined on case by case.
One Briton was bitten by a police dog and four Norwegian policemen suffered minor injuries, reported the Norwegian news agency NTB.
