A California judge slashed a jury's $28 billion damage award in a tobacco lawsuit against the company to $28 million.
Barnes & Noble Inc., down $3.91 at $17.46
The world's largest bookseller lowered its fourth-quarter and full-year outlook, citing disappointing holiday sales.
Sepracor Inc., up $1.24 at $9.14
The pharmaceutical company said it's on track to submit a new drug application for its insomnia treatment Estorra in mid-February. Still, it said there was no assurance the Food and Drug Administration would approve the application.
Precise Software Solutions Ltd., up $4.43 at $16.48; Veritas Software Corp., down 81 cents at $16.43
Veritas agreed to buy Precise for $537 million.
Intersil Corp., down 99 cents at $13.39
