ATLANTA (AP) _ Kenya Williams scored 23 points, Carla Munnion 20 and Shea Matlock hit a tiebreaking free throw with 5.3 seconds remaining as Georgia Tech upset No. 7 North Carolina State 73-72 Sunday.
Matlock missed the second of her two free throws and State finally got possession in a scramble, only to see LySchale Jones' running 14-footer bounce off the rim at the buzzer.
The loss ended a nine-game winning streak for the Wolfpack (11-3, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). It was the fifth victory in a row for Tech (8-3, 2-1).
Katie Smrcka-Duffy led the Wolfpack with 21 points.
Tech trailed 33-20 late in the first half before going on an 11-1 run in which Williams scored six and the Jackets forced five turnovers to cut the halftime deficit to 34-31.
The second-half lead seesawed until State appeared to take control, surging in front 63-57 on a layup by Jones with 6:32 to play.
Munnion wiped out that deficit on two trips down the floor, hitting a pair of 3-pointers from the right wing to tie it at 63 with 5:47 to play.
Neither team led by more than two the rest of the way, with Kisha Ford giving Tech a 72-70 lead on a 12-footer with 51 seconds remaining and Jones countering for the Wolfpack off the left baseline with 32 seconds to play to tie it at 72 and set up Matlock's game-winning free throw.
Jones and Chasity Melvin each added 15 points for North Carolina State, while Ford had 16 points and nine rebounds for Tech.
