WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) _ Western New England Bancorp (WNEB) on Tuesday reported second-quarter profit of $5.1 million.

The Westfield, Massachusetts-based bank said it had earnings of 18 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains, came to 17 cents per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $23.4 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $18.8 million, surpassing Street forecasts.

Western New England Bancorp shares have risen almost 2 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $11.10, a rise of 10 percent in the last 12 months.
