Stanford wins first world series triathlon

MADRID (AP) — Non Stanford of Britain won her first world series triathlon, winning by 26 seconds in Madrid on Saturday.
Stanford came out of the swim outside of the top 10, made up ground during the 40-kilometer bike leg, then blew everyone away on the 10-kilometer run.
Anne Haug of Germany, last out of the water, finished second, running down Jodie Stimpson of Britain on the last lap of the run.
Stimpson was third, holding off series overall leader Gwen Jorgensen of the United States.
