GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Glendale police say a 13-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded early Tuesday morning as he and another 13-year-old horsed around with a handgun.

Police say a woman who owns the gun was in another room of the home where the shooting occurred and that a number of people were in the home at the time.

According to police, guns in the home "were not properly secured and were accessible."

Police say authorities are considering whether the woman who owned the gun and the 13-year-old who was holding it when it was discharged will be prosecuted.

No identities were released.
