NEW YORK (AP) _ The Houston Astros placed pitcher Mike Scott on the 21-day disabled list Friday and sent pitcher Rocky Childress outright to Tucson of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.
To fill the spots on the roster, the Astros recalled pitchers Dave Meads and Ernie Camacho from Tucson.
Scott was injured on June 16. He pitched only two-thirds of an inning on June 21 and missed his last turn with a strained left hamstring. Scott had been scheduled to pitch Saturday night.
The National League's 1986 Cy Young Award winner was disabled retroactive to June 22. He will be eligible to pitch again immediately following the July 12 All-Star Game. Scott is 8-2 this season with a 2.96 ERA.
Childress was 1-0 with a 6.89 ERA in seven relief appearances with Houston.
Meads and Camacho both pitched for the Astros earlier this season. Meads was 0-0 with a 2.57 ERA between May 1-11. Camacho was 0-3 with a 7.90 ERA and one save in 10 games between April 14-May 11.
